Microsoft unveils Windows 10 ship date, OEM prices leak online: Is this OS ready to debut?

Microsoft has officially confirmed AMD's previous   leak— the next version of the venerable Windows operating system will be available on July 29. Microsoft plans to finalize the Windows code by the end of June before shipping it to hardware vendors. That leaves scant weeks for the company to finish the code. There’s no doubt that Microsoft’s teams are working overtime — the company has been rapid-firing releases out to its beta testers every few  days  — but there are real questions as to whether the OS we receive on July 29 will be anything like “ready” for prime time. Microsoft has already stated that Windows 10 won’t be delivered like a traditional Windows operating system. Instead, the company will incorporate a software-as-a-service model that takes the old style Windows Update approach and streamlines it into a continuous cycle. Xiaomi Mi 4 gets a price cut in India

NEW DELHI: Chinese device maker Xiaomi has announced a price cut for its Mi 4 smartphone. The company which recently announced Rs 2,000 price cut as part of its Mi Fan Festival in the country has decided to make it permanent.  In a statement, the company announced,"Mi India offered a special price for Mi 4 during Mi Fan Festival, and it was very well received. We have thus decided to make this price drop permanent."  Post the price cut, Mi 4 16GB will now be available for Rs 17,999 (down from Rs 19,999), while its 64GB model can be purchased at Rs 21,999 (down from Rs 23,999).  Successor to the Xiaomi Mi 3, the phone features a stainless steel metal frame and a 5-inch full HD display made by Sharp or JDI. It also has changeable plastic back covers.  Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB RAM. It will be available in 16GB and 64 GB storage variants. Phicomm Passion 660 debuts in India, priced at Rs.10,999

Phicomm has launched its Passion 660 smartphone in India. Targeted at the budget segment, the new phone will compete with Xiaomi's latest Mi4i smartphone.     Phicomm    is the latest entrant in the Indian mobile phone market.            The company has debuted with a handset called the Phicomm Passion 660. Priced at           Rs. 10,999,  the smartphone will be exclusively available via e-commerce site Amazon.       The phone will go on sale June 9.  The Phicomm Passion 660 is 7.3mm slim and weighs about 110g.     It has a 5-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass protection.   The Passion 660 comes with a 13.0-megapixel rear camera and a 5.0-megapixel front facing  shooter.   The phone runs Android KitKat and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor  along with 2 GB of RAM. Android Lollipop now running on 12.4 percent Devices

The market share of Google's latest version of Android, Lollipop, has been slowly but steadily increasing since its launch last year. As per the latest numbers from Google, Android 5.0 Lollipop and Android 5.1 Lollipop now cumulatively account for 12.4 percent of active Android devices. Google publishes its Android distribution numbers every month, based on data gathered from the Google Play store app, which supports Android 2.2 and above.  For its latest report, lists active devices that checked into Google Play during the seven-day period ending June 1. As mentioned before, in this period, Google found 12.4 percent of active Android devices ran Android Lollipop, specifically, 11.6 percent ran Android 5.0, while 0.8 percent ran Android 5.1. This is up from 9.7 percent overall (an increase of 2.7 percent) in May, with 9 percent for Android 5.0, and 0.7 percent for Android 5.1.
